Telcotec is a UK software consultancy, founded in 2004. We started in telecoms, building analytics for operators where data volumes are extreme and mistakes are costly. Today we bring that experience to any organisation that needs software, data platforms and AI it can rely on.

Our story

From telecom analytics to software, data and AI.

The technology has changed a great deal since 2004. The way we work has not: understand the problem properly, build it well, and stay accountable for it.

  1. 2004

    Founded to fill a gap

    Telcotec was founded in the UK to fill a gap in telecom service and business management. Operators needed analysis tools that were complete, flexible and affordable; most of what existed was partial and expensive.

  2. Products

    A family of telecom products

    We built products for operators: NPP for network performance, alongside solutions for revenue assurance and data retention. We also delivered integration services, from planning and architecture to implementation and testing.

  3. Scale

    Built for operator volumes

    NPP grew into a platform for carriers and operators, processing 150 million records a day with near-real-time summaries. It taught us how to design systems that stay fast and correct as data grows.

  4. Beyond telecoms

    eMock: AI in education

    We designed and built eMock, an online exam preparation platform with mock and practice exams, automatic marking and Rocky, an AI tutor. eMock is a separate, related business; Telcotec built its technology.

  5. Modernisation

    Measured, value by value

    We benchmarked moving a SQL Server reporting layer to ClickHouse: up to 970× faster daily reports and 15× less storage, with every result checked. Rocky brought AI to NPP, answering questions in plain English.

  6. Today

    A software consultancy

    We now help organisations in any industry with five practices: Software & SaaS, Data Engineering & Analytics, Database Performance & Modernisation, Cloud Architecture, and Applied AI.
